Portraits that Celebrate Connection

Commissioned portraits at Affinity Art Advocacy are more than artwork. They are a way of saying: your story matters, your connection is real, you are seen.

What makes our commissioned portraits special?

The process is just as meaningful as the final piece. Each portrait is co-created, as I listen closely to you and the emotional tone of the person, family, animal, or organization being honoured. Together, we'll make thoughtful decisions about the colours, symbols, elements, and the portrait's overall feeling. It is a process rooted in care, reflection, and connection. Questions of reflection can include:

  • What colours feel calming, joyful, or meaningful to you

  • Are there flowers, plants, or natural elements that hold personal significance

  • Which symbols, shapes, or cultural references feel connected to your identity or story

  • Are there memories, places, or loved ones you would like represented

  • What feeling do you want the portrait to carry (for example, strength, peace, hope, grounding, connection)

  • Is this portrait for you, or as a gift for someone else, and what message would you like it to share

Whether individual, family, or animal companion, each portrait honours the quiet truths within their story.

Individual portraits

Individual portraits are an everyday reminder of your unique beauty, strength, and story. They hold the parts of you that deserve to be seen and honoured.

Family portraits

More than art, a commissioned portrait is a gift of belonging, dignity, and warmth, strengthening bonds.

Animal Companion Portraits

Portraits for our animal companions honour the love, comfort, and joy they bring into our lives. These pieces celebrate their spirit, their personality, and the quiet ways they stay close to our hearts.

A personalized journey

My first commissioned portrait was for an individual who wanted to celebrate her personal journey. We worked side by side to choose the plants, coral, and social justice elements that reflected her story. She felt so deeply recognized in the portrait that she commissioned a second piece for her mother and a third for her cousin.

Honouring Those Who Care for Others

This Portrait of Hope honours the quiet, extraordinary work of caregivers, and the angels who accompany others through illness, loss, and the passage of death. It is a recognition of their compassion, presence, and the love they give so generously.

If this speaks to you, I invite you to connect. Tell me about the person, the family, the animal companion, or the organization you would like to honour.
